France win World Championships to reach London 2012


To retain the men's world handball title in 37 years,France became the first nation with a thrilling 37-35 victory over Denmark in Malmo.

Behind hosts Britain, to qualify for the men's Olympic handball event at the London Games,France become the second nation.

Spain beat Sweden 24-23 for the bronze medal, while Britain's men did not qualify for the tournament.

After this wins France directly qualify for both the 2012 Olympics in London and the next world championships in 2013 in Spain.

While the French collected their fourth world crown - to emulate Romania and Sweden - Spain had earlier won the bronze medal clash edging hosts Sweden 24-23.

London 2012 organisers to reduce carbon footprint

The carbon footprint of the games will be reduce as much as possible said the organisers of the 2012 Olympics.

"The focus will be on cutting "embodied carbon" rather than deploying costly renewables."

"We found the biggest part of the footprint of the games is embodied carbon."

"It was not just in the materials used in the stadia, but also in the so-called overlay - the temporary extra seating, cabling, IT, signage and so on that goes with any sporting event."said David Stubbs.

The organizers are hiring material and facilities and looking at what can be done with them after the games,said David Stubbs.

2012 London Olympics tickets to be on sale from March 15

For the London Olympics 2012 tickets will be on sale from March 15,announced by the organizers.

Fans have got the time of six weeks to decide which event they want to attend before making a final submission.

There are 6.6 million tickets on offer at a wide range of prices starting at 20 pounds.

For young and senior people tickets are available on special packages as well.

"On March 15, the application process opens to be part of the greatest show on earth," London 2012 chairman Lord Sebastien Coe said

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the world's greatest athletes going for gold in the UK - a chance for people to see their favourite sport and perhaps try a new one," he added.

GM plans to advertise

For major sporting events,General Motors is approaching with its advertising budget.

To be the exclusive domestic automotive advertiser during the 2012 London Olympics,GM has confirmed the deal with NBC.

In the past huge investment had been done by GM in Olympics,but that spending has come down as the automaker has struggled in recent years. That reduced spending also included the Super Bowl.

At least two television spots for next month's game will buy by the company says GM officials.That's the first time in 3 years that GM will advertise during the Super Bowl.

London seeks operator for 2012 Olympic tower

To operate the 114-meter (375-foot) tower being built next to the main stadium for the 2012 Games,London Olympic officials are seeking for a company.

A bid process for the 22.3 million pound ($35 million) ArcelorMittal Orbit has been launched by the Olympic Park Legacy Company,which officials hope will become a major visitor spectacle during and after the games.

The winning bid will be announced by June.The last registration date for companies are 28th Jan.

Twisting Tower had been designed by Anish Kapoor,began in November and is to be completed by early 2012. Steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal is contributing 19.2 million ($30 million) to the project.

Located between the Olympic Stadium and the aquatics venue, the structure will have two observation floors offering views across London's skyline.

The selected operator will operate the venue on account of the London organizing committee during the Olympics.

Goodison hopes for strong Olympic preparation


Goodison believes that winning a two key events in 2011 will be a great preparation for Londong Olympics 2011.

Goodison regularly trains at Weymouth's National Sailing Academy will host both the Sail for Gold Regatta and a Olympic test event this summer.

"Trying to win both of them is what I've written down on paper," he said.
